HMS 2 (Heavy Melting Steel No. 2) is the standard designation for lighter, lower-density recyclable ferrous scrap and wrought iron. While it originates from the same industrial and obsolete sources as HMS 1, HMS 2 consists of thinner steel and allows for certain protective coatings like galvanization.
